Insurance broker, and the title partner of Premiership Rugby, Gallagher, has launched a UK-wide initiative - ‘Tackling Tomorrow. Together’ – bringing to life stories of six UK businesses and a charity that have shown resilience, tenacity and pioneering spirit during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To highlight the diversity of challenges and opportunities presented by the pandemic, Made in the Midlands, a manufacturing & engineering peer-to-peer membership association, has been selected to participate in the programme in recognition of their efforts and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Made in the Midlands – part of the ‘Made In’ group, a network which supports and champions over 600 manufacturers in the UK – will be paired with Gallagher Premiership clubs Wasps and Worcester Warriors as part of the 'Tackling Tomorrow. Together' initiative. During the pandemic, instead of their yearly exhibition, Made in the Midlands built a virtual display to replace the cancelled physical event. The association’s popular breakfast events also went virtual, with lucky members receiving a hamper of local treats to enjoy at home. Going virtual increased participation at these events by 500%, hugely benefitting members during a time of impacted training.
Gallagher helped to support Made in the Midlands during this time with free online ‘Cyber Security’ webinars for members to highlight not only the tools cybercriminals use to infiltrate IT systems, but the increased vulnerability firms are experiencing due to greater reliance on online activity and remote connectivity during the pandemic.
Each organisation will be partnered with their local Gallagher Premiership Rugby club and given opportunities to promote their business within their local communities with the aim of getting in front of new audiences and potential customers. This includes in-stadia advertising such as big screen promotions and programme adverts, region-specific digital marketing and tickets to host a business networking event when spectators are allowed back into Premiership stadia. Each organisation will also receive a ‘meet and greet’ session for employees with their local Gallagher Premiership Rugby players. This will all be delivered through Gallagher’s position as title partner of Premiership Rugby. In addition to the rugby-related package, Gallagher will continue to offer specialist broking advice and support to each organisation.
Michael Rea, Chief Executive of Gallagher’s UK Retail Division, commented:
“As a local insurance broker, Gallagher is working around the clock with UK businesses – large and small – to help them navigate the challenges and evolving risks that have arisen from the tough trading conditions of the past 12 months.
Businesses have been left grappling with lockdowns, changes to their insurance requirements, and understanding new risk exposures, with many being forced to quickly adapt their offering or diversify their business model in response to the pandemic and lockdown restrictions.
It has been incredible to see the optimism and tenacity of some of these businesses and we wanted to take a moment to champion and recognise both the challenges and opportunities presented during an extraordinary period through our ‘Tackling Tomorrow. Together’ initiative.”
Six businesses and one charity will be partnered with Premiership Rugby clubs to promote their businesses over the next twelve months.

Jason Pitt, Director, Made in the Midlands, said: "During a crisis, the first thing you need to do is accept where you are. As a business, we moved quickly to innovate and invest. It's far more productive to invest time in solving a problem than to be paralysed with fear. Gallagher has stood alongside us as a business as we have moved into the virtual space, offering their online ‘Cyber Security’ webinars for all our members. Like us, they have found progressive ways to help us as a business, rather than simply standing still."
To mark the launch of the ‘Tackling Tomorrow. Together’ initiative, Gallagher ambassador and rugby legend Ugo Monye connected with Gallagher broker, Jennifer Clark, to discuss the impact of the global pandemic on local businesses and communities, and how Gallagher has been helping the UK business community to confront these unprecedented times by tackling them head-on, together.
Ugo Moyne, Gallagher ambassador, adds: “COVID-19 has impacted all businesses in one way or another, with many struggling or having to switch how they trade to stay afloat in lockdown. It’s brilliant to see Gallagher using its platform as title partner of Premiership Rugby to shine a light on some of the amazing local businesses up and down the country and hopefully help their businesses grow through these direct links with their local Premiership rugby clubs. I’m looking forward to meeting them once spectators return to stadiums and encourage everyone to celebrate the sentiment of this initiative and show your support to local businesses where you can!”
